School Development Plan (SDP)

Christ Church CE Primary School

School Development Priorities 2025–2026

At Christ Church, our overriding priority — alongside keeping children safe — is to ensure every pupil is well prepared for secondary school and equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to flourish.

Our vision remains central: every child is a unique gift, and we are committed to helping each one thrive academically, socially and spiritually.

1. Strengthening Reading, Writing and Maths

We are continuing to raise standards in the core subjects, with a particular focus on:

  • Securing strong foundations in phonics, reading fluency and comprehension
  • Developing handwriting, spelling and high-quality writing
  • Strengthening arithmetic fluency and mathematical reasoning
  • Ensuring children can confidently apply their knowledge across the curriculum

We are giving particular attention to pupils who need additional support, ensuring that every child makes strong progress from their individual starting point.

2. Ensuring Consistently High-Quality Teaching

We are committed to high standards of teaching in every classroom.

This year we are focusing on:

  • Consistency in teaching approaches across the school
  • Strong use of subject vocabulary and oracy
  • Carefully sequenced lessons that build knowledge over time
  • Effective support and challenge for all learners
  • Coaching and professional development for all staff, including early career teachers

Our aim is that all teaching is at least good and supports children to achieve their very best.

3. Developing Strong Leadership at All Levels

Strong leadership ensures sustained improvement.

This year we are:

  • Supporting subject leaders to further strengthen curriculum design
  • Providing leadership development and training
  • Refining our curriculum to ensure clarity, coherence and strong progression
  • Working closely with governors and our Trust to maintain high standards

This will ensure the school continues to improve and that outcomes for all groups of pupils remain strong.

How We Measure Success

We review progress regularly through:

  • Ongoing assessment of pupil achievement
  • Monitoring of teaching and learning
  • Governor oversight and challenge
  • External quality assurance through our Trust

Our ambition is that pupils’ outcomes remain in line with or above national expectations and that all children make good progress from where they start.
